Strange Man in a Suit

By Bri Fraser

My father has been gone for quite some time.

Instead a strange man in a suit stays with us.

He sombers through the door carrying a worn out briefcase,

Both have seen better days.

He sways when he walks, stumbling over his own two feet.

When he calls my name to kiss me good night,

It never sounds right.

His breath smells sweet it makes my nose wrinkle

But I don’t like this strange man in the suit,

I know tomorrow when I wake

He’ll disappear for the day

Only to come home and fade away.

I once asked my mom when dad will come home.

Soon she hopes, soon.

Bri Fraser is a senior at Gilford High School who loves to snowboard, hike, and run track. Her future plans are to continue to enjoy life and stay happy.
