Subway

By Natalia Ratner

Subway
Subway: Lily Ferudi

Sitting in a subway,
surrounded by many people: different colors, different clothes,
but never have I felt so alone,
I dare to look,
only to see the tops of heads,
everyone is hiding,
behind newspapers, behind books,
even sleeping to avoid looking or being seen,
I think to myself;
When did eyes become something to fear?
